Stuart Sones

Stuart graduated from Indiana University with a B.A. in Anthropology and Middle Eastern Studies and a certificate in Islamic Studies. After completing the Flagship Capstone as a Boren Scholar, he received a 2022-2023 Center for Arabic Study Abroad fellowship to advance his Arabic in Amman, Jordan. Stuart’s research on jinn conspiracies and the making of truth and religious authority online, entitled “Conspiracies from the Unseen: Authenticating Islamic Discourse in a Neoliberal Moment,” won the 2022 paper prize from the Middle East Section of the American Anthropological Association. Stuart is interested in pursuing a career in international education before going on to complete a PhD in Anthropology.
