My name is Abby Potter and I studied Middle Eastern Languages and Cultures with a minor in Global Media at Indiana University.  I chose to study Arabic for a variety of reasons including personal and career-related goals.  In my childhood I lived abroad and always enjoyed learning new languages, so I always knew I would study a major world language like Arabic. I ultimately decided to study Arabic because of the diverse geography of the language, and the rich and vibrant culture. I hope to use my Arabic to live outside of the US and work with environmentally concerned agencies as the Middle East is one of the world's largest regions affected by climate change. The Flagship Program has benefitted me by allowing me to learn the language and culture from excellent professors both domestically and abroad, as well as growing my cultural experiences through living in Morocco.
