UMI And AALIM Directors Visit UArizona Campus

On Monday. April 24th, distinguished guests Dean Mohammed Larouz, Dean of the School of Arts and Humanities of Meknes and the President of the Commission of External Relations and Cooperation, from the University of Moulay Ismail (UMI) and Dr. Driss CherkaouiAcademic Director of the Arab American Language Institute in Morocco (AALIM), where ROTC and PGO students spend a summer abroad, and where the Arabic Overseas Flagship Capstone program takes place, conducted a site visit the University of Arizona and the Arabic Special Programs at the School of Middle Eastern and North African Studies (MENAS). Dean. Larouz and Dr. Cherkaoui met with university leadership, Dr. Betsy Cantwell, Senior Vice President for Research and Innovation (RII)) and Dr. Jane Zavisca, Associate Dean, Research and Graduate Studies at SBS and Associate Professor at the School of Sociology, to discuss the Flagship program’s student engagement as well as increased collaborations between the three institutions. As Arabic Flagship Overseas Capstone and Project GO students study in Morocco during their summer abroad or year-long Capstone program, Dean Larouz and Dr. Cherkaoui, both representing their respective institutions UMI and AALIM, met their future students to gauge their experience in the Arabic Overseas Flagship Capstone and Project GO programs.
